11 mile cycle ride along the working canal, very peaceful. On route to Anor took advantage of a large E.Leclerc for fuel and food. We saw signs for a fête in Anor tomorrow, how exciting.

19.04 - Happy Good Friday!

Despite it being very quiet place, without too much lighting - didn’t sleep particularly well last night. No rhyme or reason!

The locks just below our aire

Today was a lovely day, just doing what makes us happy! Went for a walk in the morning to the town, and most importantly the boulangerie! Bought a baguette and a couple of pain au raisin. On the way we went into a 24/7 serve yourself vegetable place. Like Guernsey’s veg hedge, only more of a business! You select the produce you want, just like a vending machine! Very friendly puppy on route who shared his garden with a peacock and a peahen.

Very cute puppy

Beautiful weather, so packed our lunch and went riding along the canal and back for about 11 miles. Saw ducks 🦆, herons, goats 🐐, and some very vocal sheep. Instead of running away, they came up to us, so we gave them extra grass, as they didn’t have much left in their area. They must continually poke their heads through the fence to get at the grass on the other side...

I think he wanted something!

Was interesting to see the working canal boats. Watched the grain (?) being poured in from the silo, and the men leveling it out before covering over and traveling down through the locks.

Car on the stern

Yesterday and today have been chatting with a lovely couple called Wendy and Robin who come from Antwerp in Belgium 🇧🇪. Making the most of the Easter break and were off to the Champagne region.

We left about 3pm - were only driving for 90 minutes - but stopped off at E.Leclerc for fuel - then decided to go food shopping as well. That’s never just a quick pop in and out with the size of the stores!

We arrived at Anor just as it started to thunder and rain. Not a very good effort though! The forecast hasn’t even mentioned it! We saw signs on the way in, maybe there is going to be a fête here tomorrow? Will wait and see!

Lovely scenery driving today, different coloured fields everywhere - vast open spaces - in rural France!

She caught me eating, I’m not that miserable.
