Bréhec - 6 September 2021

Found a lovely hill park just by Bréhec on a hot day.

Bréhec - 6 September 2021

Back to this little chestnut, taking forever to get to sleep - mind working overtime! Not so for husband! It was a very peaceful location, just a shame we didn’t get to see much of it even this morning, due to fog.

We were actually up and out walking by about 09.30 - early for us! Just a pedestrian path, with what should have been lovely views, could hear lots of birds too, but didn’t see many.

We’re both adjusting to being in a confined space again, and remembering what we need to do - like remembering to arm and disarm the tracker for Dave when moving! No long leisurely showers for a while!

My turn to drive, always feel a bit anxious at first - Dave is a big beast, and guaranteed that we’ll encounter some small roads!

Is it a smile or a grimace!

Drove to a Lidl to go shopping, as in the past, we’ve found their fruit and vegetables to be fresher than some other supermarkets. Plus, neither of us want to spend the necessary time in larger supermarkets. Plus, plus - we don’t have our pass sanitaire yet, which may be required in really large places. Apparently it’s work in progress, at least we’re in email communication and have application numbers. No space in the small carpark at all, grrh, anyway, Martin reprogrammed Co-pilot, and we drove to another Lidl en route. Was good, lots of parking. No hand sanitizer at the doors, but everyone was wearing masks. Can’t be bad, freshly baked baguettes for 35c - but went upmarket and paid 59c for a smaller, but crusty one! Found everything we wanted, except fresh milk - in the past some Lidl stores sell it, others don’t - have bought some of the dreaded UHT, and will see how we go!

Think I drove about an hour in total today - drove through St Brieuc and Binic and onto Bréhec. We’re up high, with a stunning view over the sea. Well, would be - but the fog keeps coming and going. On the basis that it’s been about 28°, we didn’t mind being in fog for some of the day in order to keep cooler.

Only mad dogs and Englishmen - ha, went for a walk after lunch, down the 10° incline to the beach. Walked in the water up to our knees for ages - very pleasant. Martin found lots of hermit crabs, but only saw a few little fish. Saw lots of seabirds - even with our book, not sure what they were - think I’ll go with some kind of tern! I went for a swim. Am I allowed to say it wasn’t very refreshing! It was warm, and walking back into the shallows - it actually felt like a bath! I do like the way that lots of French beaches have showers, so at least you can wash all the sand off your feet!

Was brave and didn’t squeal when the grasshopper (?) landed on my leg and tickled as it crawled up!

We’re having real issues with internet here, don’t know whether it’s location, or what, using a hotspot from the phone, but don’t have endless data on Martin’s phone…

Martin has flown his drone twice today - a record! Was too foggy really this morning, but he’s got some lovely photos from up high where we are now.

I’d like to point out, we’re actually parking where we’re allowed - thanks Park4night!

We’ve walked over 14,000 steps today, and Tintin knows about it now. He’s on the waiting list for a hip replacement, and trying to keep active until then, but with some limitations.

We’ve just been sitting out in the shade and reading books, now it’s rum o’clock - so all is well with the world!

More pics from today

PS Martin collected a bit of plastic while I was swimming.
