Grand Canal near Robertstown - 29 May 2023
29 May 2023 - Grand Canal - Robertstown (not Venice!)
Oh, I forgot to add yesterday - we saw another pine martin. Cycling through quiet lanes, we both thought it was a small kitten at first - then it streaked across in front of us - bigger than the first one we saw - how lucky are we?
I was reading until about 23.30, tried to sleep, but we’d had a glass of wine - which, how do I put it - meant my husband wasn’t peaceful in his sleep! Gave up, and pulled down the double bed in the early hours - first time this trip I’ve slept there.
Short blog, as not a lot has happened! Tintin drove for nearly 2 hours and were parked up alongside a canal.
Shortly after arriving, a lovely man; who we later found out was called Ewout came to see us. He had a card to use for the showers and/or electricity that he hadn’t used, and as they were leaving, wanted someone to benefit. We don’t need it either, but we’ll keep it incase someone arrives who will use up the credit!
Very interesting couple, have been traveling since 2009, and been most places, with over 220,000km on the clock of their moho! He was born in the Netherlands, but went to Australia when he was 2.
Later in the afternoon before they drove to Dublin to catch the ferry, he came and gave us a lovely Australian tea towel - how kind was that? Thank you Jenny & Ewout - and safe travels.
It’s been sunny - and warm. First time this trip we’ve sat outside, chatted with people, read books - no phones or iPads - great!
Bit short on the photos - but enjoyed seeing the duck and ducklings, lots of chaffinches, pied wagtails, robin and blackbirds - what more do we need!
Despite the factor 30, I think we’ve both caught the sun for the first time this year. Forecast is good for tomorrow too 😊
