Le Vieil-Bargé - 24 June 2019
We decided to try and outrun the forthcoming heatwave, so Kay drove West for about two and a half hours, via Lidl, to Le Vieil-Bargé. It looks like Brittany and Normandy will be a lot cooler as the week progresses so we thought we would spend our last few days around there.
24.06.19 - Sat outside Dave in his shade reading, didn’t have our avocado salad till about 9pm. Hot night, and very loud frogs!
This morning reverted back to week 9 of the running challenge, and did a 30 minute run. Was already 20°. Was along a path above the Loire. Don’t think Tintin will mind me saying, but it was possibly his hardest run yet, and probably would have given up without his conscience alongside him! Bit personal, but it’s fair to say that it must be good for pores - we might have been glowing a little afterwards!
I drove today - think about 2-1/2 hours. Stopped off at a Lidl as we had run out of pretty much everything. That’s one annoying thing about Lidl - there’s no guarantee of what you’re going to get. This one had no fresh milk - so will have to go elsewhere tomorrow...
We’re heading west, and now at Le Vieil-Bauge (fairly close to Angers). Would be great if it was really sunny, as we’re parked under the shade of trees. When we left the temperature said 33°, and it went down to 21° after a few hours and a few drops of rain. Has been about 25° since and mainly overcast.
The only thing going for this rural town is the wonky spire on the church! It started to be built in the 11th century. Looks like it’s falling down, cracks everywhere! As ever, the town seemed deserted.
Once again, Billy no mates! No overhead lighting and can hear lots of birds singing - hopefully another peaceful night!
