Mareuil-sur-Cher - 08 May 2022
Bike ride in the other direction along Le Cher as far as Azay-sur-Cher and back, over 15 miles. Short drive to here and again on our own at the moment.
Sunday, 8 May 2022 - Mareuil-sur-Cher
Well, if I’m honest - the pizzas weren’t as good as in Saumur! Nothing wrong with them, maybe because they didn’t have any oregano, and were really salty. Also only €30 instead of €45!
This morning had our longest ride yet - 15.5 miles along the River bank and went as far as Azay-sur-Cher. The boulangerie there was open, then we sat and ate the very good pain-au-raison watching the world go by! Yes, we’re eating our way through France - and the reckoning will come with scales when we’re back home!
When the catkins came blowing our way it was very pretty - could be from a silver birch, aspen or poplar? (Sally - what do you think?)
Maybe because it’s a Sunday - there were lots of cyclists and joggers. Briefly met a UK couple, they too were taking photos of a château, despite the sign saying not to - which I hadn’t even seen! They were staying at one of the French Passion places where you pitch up for free, usually have a wine tasting, no obligation to buy - but I bet most people do buy!
Lovely little untethered pony doing his job of keeping the grass short!
Had FaceTime updates with both our children, which was good. Feels we’ve been away for ages, maybe because we’ve moved on each day, and been busy…
We’ve moved onto another place where once again we’re the only ones here.
Has been lovely sitting outside, apart from all the flying midgey things!
Went for a brief walk, the campsite just near is charging €17 a night, think I prefer where we are! A boulangerie is close by, but a typical French town, lots of residential houses, but not many people around.
Another day of no pain relief for Tintin - 😊
Nothing else to say, apart from - it’s nearly rum o’clock!
