Monopoli - 22 October 2022
Youths carried on being youths until about 12.30 on and off - well maybe I just slept after that time!
Hodgepodge food last night - fried up some onions and fresh tomatoes, added 5 eggs and lots of cheese, not an omelette, yet not scrambled - was actually quite tasty and used up my out of date eggs!
Tintin wanted to drive today - and having seen where Co-pilot took us, I’m quite pleased! We needed to service Dave, and that meant driving back to Cisternino for the only dumping station in the area (which said it was working). It’s fair to say we saw quite a few streets I’m not sure we needed to! Lots of one way traffic and of course, fairly narrow - and bumpy! The parking area wasn’t really signposted, and took a while to find the water and drain. We’d used our hot water this morning so we could wash our towels, tea-towels, and hand towel. As no one else was around, we rinsed everything once there with fresh water and spun it. What a good day to wash! Has been mid 20s all day, towels all dried within hours!
Anyway, we couldn’t wait to leave Cisternino, but it served a purpose!
Think Tintin drove for about an hour today. We’re now parked up overlooking the beach at Monopoli (population c.48,000). The Adriatic is just so clear!
Packed some lunch and went to a little cove and had a swim in the lovely clean, clear and warm sea. I’d swum around the corner to see what was there - was a larger beach. Decided just to walk there instead of sitting in the crowded cove area. Had lunch, people watched, read our books - again - a really difficult day!
Mid afternoon we walked into the old town and wandered around. Yes, more gelato! Black Forest for both of us - €4.
The harbour is pretty with lots of bright blue boats, and hundreds of little fish!
Another town with lots of little alleyways - didn’t seem as touristy - no bad thing!
Tintin asked me to take a photo of the copper down pipe - why - I have no idea…
As ever, lots of churches - you’ll be pleased to know they were all closed - so less photos!
We walked back, and swam in a different beach - sun was just going off the beach - and already felt cooler. Was lovely though. 12,000 steps today, but hasn’t seemed we’ve walked that far.
Zoë - from Beauty on Call - just to say that my nails which should only last 2 weeks, have now lasted over 9 weeks! One gel lifted off today - but impressed at how long they’ve lasted, just with chopping off the ends, and infilling with the same colour - thank you!
It’s like being back in summer today, warm for the next few days too - but more cloud if XCWeather is to be believed!
Dean the drone had another outing this evening, I’m sure Tintin will add his photos here…
