Vernou-en-Sologne - 22 June 2019
Another 30 minute run to end the couch to 5k program, Jo Whiley says that we’re runners now! Kay drove for over an hour to Vernou where, once again, we just got our books out and sat in the shade.
22.06.19 - Finished the Jodi Picoult last night called Small Great Things - all about prejudice and power - worth a read.
Week 9, run 3 - done ✅. So that’s it, our challenge completed. Again wasn’t easy, sun was out, and were on the long straight roads. All we can do now is carry on doing 30 minute runs in the hope that eventually they become easy!
Was so nice, and no one around - could do some yoga sort of stretching on the grass afterwards.
I drove today, just over an hour. Stopped off at the boulangerie for a baguette. Instead of following the Loire up to Orléans, we’re going cross country where it’s quieter. We’re in an Aire in a town called Vernou-en-Sologne. Lots of space, big open green area alongside. Not much to say, awning out and reading in the heat of the day.
Went for a brief walk into the town late afternoon - really nothing of interest! Even the church didn’t appear to have any redeeming features - dark, a bit smelly and not somewhere you’d want to spend time!
Waited until about 8pm to cook again, as it’s still warm. We thought we might be getting bitten, so put some ‘stuff’ on - we’re usually too late - but to be honest, haven’t seen or heard any mosquitoes 🦟- yet!
Started another book today, and will probably finish it later! These modern books seem much shorter, with bigger font!
Trying to decide whether we head west, quickly - as the forecast is just for hot 🥵
